The influence of brake pad wear on the braking performance of largecapacity city buses

This article presents the results of a study examining the impact of brake pad wear on the safety performance of city buses. A nonlinear relationship between braking distance and friction lining wear was experimentally established. A critical wear threshold (80%) was identified; above this threshold, a sharp deterioration in braking performance is observed. The obtained results have practical significance for the development of predictive brake system maintenance systems.
