The article presents the findings of an empirical study with a representative sample conducted in Belarus in 2010. Taking a direct participation in the process of “health production”, young people may be subject to high professional risks and stressogenous factors, and this, in turn, may result in chronic tiredness, dissatisfaction, decline in labour motivation, and ill-health. It shows that to preserve doctors’ health, it is necessary to improve the conditions and regime of work according to the professional pectations of young specialists; to raise their salaries and appreciation of their work by society (instead of their searching for additional jobs and increased work hours); to raise the level of social protection of doctors in conformity with their social status.
