The article considers influence of the electoral system type on the functioning of the political system. It assesses strong and weak points of the certain electoral systems. The author designates reasons determining changes in the regulations of relations associated with formation of the authorities and municipal officials, and discusses questions of the political system functioning according to the particular electoral system.
