Effect of the type of solid gels based on sodium alginate and chitosan on the release of triarylimidazoles from gels into a model aqueous medium

Based on natural polysaccharides chitosan (Cht) and sodium alginate (SA), polymer matrix compositions with slow release of the active substance of the class of substituted triarylimidazoles, possessing antitumor activity, have been obtained. Solid polysaccharide gels (xerogels and aerogels), including polyelectrolyte complexes (PEC) of sodium alginate and chitosan, were used as matrices. To slow down the release of the active substance, the gels were additionally coated with a polymer shell based on SA and Cht. It was shown that the most effective systems were based on PEC (Cht+SA) xeroges in a capsule of alginate gels.
