The impact of the third mission on the competitiveness of Russian universities

The influence of the Moscow International Ranking “Three Missions of the University” on improving the competitiveness of Russian universities is considered. Conclusions are given based on the results of the analysis of approaches to building global university rankings, it is concluded that they give advantages to Anglo-Saxon universities (the assessment is based on scientometric data and subjective assessments of experts); the interaction of universities with society is not taken into account. The features of the approach used by the Moscow international ranking (taking into account the interaction between the university and society - the social functions of the university) are shown. The necessity of state support for development and promotion in the international arena of this rating, developed in Russia, is substantiated.
