Influence of light levels on the productivity of watercress

Increase of production volumes of vegetable production is possible thanks to the use of scientifically-based production technology. Indicators of productivity plants in protected ground conditions are influenced by such factors as genetic potential selected grade, system of agrotechnical measures and technical means applied in cultivating this culture, microclimate parameters. The important role of the lighting system in the plant life determine by the fact that photosynthesis is one of the major processes through product which is formed by up to 95% of the biomass. The intensity of this process directly depends on the level of illumination. This setting of the lighting system also have a direct impact on the costs energy production of vegetable. Leafy vegetables deserved particular attention, inter alia, watercress. The basic phenological indicators and watercress productivity indicators are medium height and dry weight of the plant, the average size of the leaf and leaf index. The article presents results of studies influences the level of lighting on these indicators and results of the evaluation of the quality and adequacy of the obtained models. Regression analysis performed Multiple Regression module programme Statistica. Maximum productivity is noted when illuminance is equal to 6,5 klk.
