On the frozen soils of the Arctic zone, the soil-forming process is extremely slow. Organic matter does not oxidize, humus formation cannot occur due to the weak microbiological activity of the soil. For the cultivation of vegetable crops is not enough not only solar heat, but also fertile soils. The supply of perishable vitamin products is not affordable for most people. Therefore, it is vitally important to grow vegetables locally. Frozen soil throughout the growing season lies on the surface, so for growing potatoes and other outdoor crops boxes on high legs are built. Low positive temperatures accompany the entire summer, so greenhouses have to be heated since July. Harvest is extremely low, despite the high costs. It is necessary to replace the greenhouse soil with a fundamentally different composition, to choose correctly the norms of fertilizing. In addition, the absence of iodine in the food basket of northerners leads to a decrease in the body's immunity and an increase in goiter. The article presents the results of a study of the effect of vermicompost and iodine additives on the productivity of cucumber in the protected ground of the Arctic zone of Yakutia. The experiments were carried out on the basis of the Borulakh Agroschool of the Verkhoyansk ulus of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). A cucumber variety April was selected for the experiments. The introduction of vermicompost together with iodine in the form of top dressing, positively affected the yield of cucumber, extended the growing season until September 4, prevented the development of fungal diseases and late blight. The analysis of cucumber fruits showed sufficient accumulation of vitamin C, and the humus indicators in the soil improved by 2.39% and 5.9%. The plants survived the daily temperature drop and yielded a good harvest.
