The article analyzes a number of external factors influencing the life activity and legitimization of Transnistria and names the actors of the external influence. The author focuses mainly on the many-sided assistance that Transnistria gets from Russia, on the forms and methods of providing targeted support as well as on the content of political, economic and cultural assistance of the Russian Federation to the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. The investigation results in the conclusion that Transnistria would be unlikely to survive under the current conditions of blockades and challenges on the part of Moldova without the all-round support of Russia. The article also reveals the policy of blackmail and threats conducted by both Moldova and Ukraine supported by the Western countries represented by the European Union and the United States towards Transnistria. This policy has a very negative impact on the Transnistrian society and its living standards. Finally, it is underlined that despite this external pressure the people of Transnistria fully support their state power, legitimize it and are sure that their independent state is the supreme value of the society.
