Бесплатный доступ

The article explores external and internal factors that influenced the increase in the number of settlements during the Early Jomon period on Honshu Island. Characterizing external factors, the author pays attention to climate change and diversity of plant food sources. Favorable conditions resulting from these changes have led to an increase in Jomon population and the need to create a new system for organizing residential and ritual space. Such an important attribute of the Jomon material culture as the diversity of pottery styles is noted only in connection with the dating and location of particular archaeological sites.
