The presented article is devoted to the study of the influence of the condition of the pavement of roads with an improved surface on the safety of road traffic. Within the framework of the article, both roads located within the city and timber roads are considered. The paper shows the effect of temperature and humidity on the process of soil freezing and directly on the integrity of the road surface. Mathematical models are presented that reflect the processes of temperature distribution and filtration movement of liquid in the soil. Also, two options are proposed for improving the technical and operational qualities of highways, which in turn will have a positive effect on the safety and smoothness of road traffic.
