The dynamics of the water regime is given, the growth of Scots pine and its drought resistance are considered using the example of lysimetric plantation models under the conditions of the transitional belt dry steppe - semidesert. It has been established that the advantage in the provision of moisture and drought resistance of young trees on loose sand persists for a short time. For the growth of pinewoods of the post-breeding age, relatively abundant clay deposits become more suitable. In this climatic zone, one-phase cohesive soil and polymineral sands are the best for the creation of pine cultures.
