The Troops of the 46th Army of the North Caucasus Front in the Battles on the Approaches and in the Krasnodar City (February 7–12, 1943)

The article is devoted to the study of the combat actions of the troops of the Soviet 46th Army on the outskirts and during the liberation of the city of Krasnodar in February 1943. The aim of the study is to examine in more detail the liberation of the city of Krasnodar based on archival documents of the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as well as to focus on the units that distinguished themselves during the battles for the liberation of the capital of the region. As a result, the author concludes that during the battles with German troops in the Krasnodar Bypass area from February 7, by February 11, the 46th Army troops had broken through the Wehrmacht’s defense line and reached the eastern outskirts of Krasnodar. The main task of liberating Krasnodar in the period from 11 to 12 February 1943 was assigned to the 248th and 818th rifle regiments of the 31st Infantry Division of the 46th Army of the North Caucasian Front.
