The article describes various methods used to calculate reputational damage caused as a result of the publication of defamatory information in the media, and examines trends in judicial practice in such disputes. Using the example of a legal dispute regarding the recovery of compensation for damage to business reputation as a result of the publication of a defamatory article in the «yellow press», the assessment of the amount of harm made by the appraisal company, the defects in this calculation and the decision made by the court are analyzed. The author gave recommendations on the choice of calculation methods and examined their application in detail.
