Issues of protection, protection and commercialization of intellectual property in the museum sphere (on the example of the museum of archeology and ethnography of the IEI UFIC RAS)

An urgent task of the Russian Federation today is to develop and implement a strategy for intellectual property management, effective use and commercialization of the results of intellectual activity of museum institutions. Due to the limited state funding of the domestic museum sector, intellectual property is becoming an important resource for economic development in this area. Objective: to analyze the issues of protection, protection and commercialization of intellectual property in the museum sphere on the example of the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of the IEI of the UFIC RAS. Methods: general (philosophical), general scientific and private methods. In particular, the analysis of normative legal acts, as well as statistical materials; observation, description, comparison, modeling, etc. Results: the study revealed a high potential for commercialization of intellectual property results in the museum sphere. In this regard, the specific experience of the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of the IEI of the UFIC RAS is considered, the stages necessary for successful commercialization are highlighted. The article considers the practice of Russian courts, the small number of cases available today, in which the specifics of museum activities are revealed. The overwhelming number of them is associated with compensation for damages caused by unauthorized use of images of museum objects. The necessity of developing a strategy for intellectual property management, effective use and commercialization of the results of intellectual activity of museum institutions, which in turn will contribute to a more successful economic development of museums of the Russian Federation, is noted.
