Mycotic ear diseases in most patients begin imperceptibly, and then there is a gradual development of symptoms. If appropriate therapy is not carried out, then the disease proceeds for a long time with periodic exacerbations. The acute course is characterized by the duration of the disease within one week, a significant severity of the inflammatory process and the presence of signs of general intoxication. In the subacute course, the duration of the disease was within a month, in the chronic - over a month. In the subacute and chronic course of the mycotic process, there were no signs of general intoxication. The authors did not observe any cases of self-healing without the use of appropriate therapy. In otomycosis, some authors note a recurrence of the process. Relapses of the disease occur in about 2-10% of patients. The prognosis of the disease with timely diagnosis and appropriate antifungal therapy is favorable.
