Methodology of comparative analysis of semantic features of causative linking verbs

The paper introduces the integrative technique of comparative analysis of causative linking verbs as parts of constructions in English and Ukrainian. A methodology of semantic research of causative linking verbs is formulated. The suggested integrative methodology includes the following stages: setting up a pattern to single out causative linking verb constructions; building up the sampling corpus; analysing the semantic features of constructions along various criteria and evaluating their productivity; describing the means of formal expression of causative constructions' elements. The study proves the key role of causative linking verbs in describing the semantics of the corresponding construction.
