Concerning the consolidation and implementation of electoral rights of citizens being treated in a leper colony

The study considers the modern state of codification and implementation of the electoral rights of citizens who are suffering from a contagious disease of leprosy. The research defines the procedures for implementing the electoral rights of leprosy patients and restrictions related to the situation when leprosy patients are in a specialized medical institution (a leper colony). The research identifies the gaps in legislation regulating the procedures for ensuring and implementing the electoral rights of citizens being treated in a leper colony. It reveals the issues related to the temporary restrictions on the right of citizens suffering from leprosy to be elected to state and local government. It is concluded that such restrictions can be codified in certain instances. Besides, it is necessary to improve the regulatory list of guarantees of electoral rights of citizens being treated in a leper colony.
