Memoirs of the daughter

A fragment of Lina Kertman's memoirs concerning her parents - Sara Fradkina and Lev Kertman - is published. Memories are divided into several parts in accordance with the sections of the official autobiography of Lev Kertman. Several key episodes from Kertman's life are in the centre of attention: pre-war childhood and adolescence in Kiev, "walking on production" and experience of a participant in the fighting during the Great Patriotic War, meeting with Evgeny Tarle and the formation of a professional historian. A turning point in the professional and personal biography of the scholar is the persecution of him in the years of "fight against cosmopolitanism" in the post-war USSR and moving to Perm State University at the personal invitation of the rector of Perm State University Alexander Bukirev. Lev Kertman's verses from Lina Kertman's archive are presented in the paper.
