Oriental motifs in the work of the writer and artist Hermann Hesse

The article deals with paintings of the famous German writer of the XX century, the Nobel prizewinner for literature, Hermann Hesse in the context of development of European culture in the XX century, in particular, philosophy and artistic movements. Special attention is paid to the oriental motifs in the landscape works of the writer and their comparison with the canonical examples of Chinese paintings of "mountains and waters".
