The article is devoted to the Oriental Institute in Vladivostok, as one of the centers, played a significant role in the history of the development of scientific School of Oriental Studies in Russia. Article based on a little-known published and archival materials considering the Eastern Institute, which became a pioneer in the development of practical Oriental Studies, creating, under the leadership of its first Director-Mongolian Studies Scholar Alexey Matveevich Pozdneev, consistent with those of the Institute, by developing training manuals and methods of training of orientalists of practitioners, with good knowledge of not only the language studied Eastern of the country, but also its political, economic and cultural spheres. Along with other oriental spheres, the Mongolian Studies emerging remained a priority for study at the Institute. It was represented by the works of both academic and scientific nature of A. Pozdneev and G. Tsybikov.
