The basic natural and human factors affecting on the ecosystem of Vaigach island were indicated. The present dynamics of natural objects were characterized, as well as the expected effects of climate change were evaluated. In the next 30 years, natural phenomenas will not lead to disappearance of rare flora and fauna species, but can be dangerous to buildings and infrastructure. The threat from poaching and oil spills is more significant and will grow with future activization of the Northern Sea Route.
