We propose a method for increasing the stability and resistance to ion bombardment of point tip autoelectronic cathodes. Ultrasonic vibrations are brought to the cathode, which, due to its conical shape, are focused on its top. Residual gas ions generated by an electron impact, previously bombarding the top of the cathode, are now defocused. As a result, the erosion is reduced and current stability is increased. This reduces the requirements for vacuum conditions.
