It is the first time a comprehensive clinical computer tomographic (CT) assess of the neurological status and atrophic process of a brain has been co ducted within the first 24-hour interval and in 12 months after the ischemic stroke. It has been proved that patients with a larger volume of primary lesion focus are suffering from the most pronounced neurological deficit in the acute period of ischemic stroke (IS) and the forecasting of their functional outcome during the year remains to be unfavourable. To assess the forecast of recovery for patients with cerebral affection in the form of large infarctions Scandinavian Stroke Scale (SSS) seems to be the most reliable, and in case of small and medium volumes of affection it is Scandinavian Stroke Scale (SSS) and Orgogozo Scale (OS). Carrying out dynamic CT for patients with IS has been proved to be necessary as in case of small and lacunar infarcts secondary atrophic changes are best visualized on dynamic CT images.
