Opportunities and risks of the Chinese initiative of the "New Silk Road" for the development of Russia

China»s initiative «One Belt One Way,» often referred to as the «New Silk Road,» is seen as a challenge to revise the modern world order and geopolitical system in Eurasia, and possibly in the world. This initiative directly affects the interests of Russia. On the one hand, this global project is expected to have a positive impact on the economy and geopolitics of Russia, which has a favorable geographical position, but needs investments in the conditions of sanctions from Western countries. On the other hand, hopes for Chinese investment face the risks of a cultural, geopolitical, technical-strategic, and other plan, hampering the implementation of the project.
