The possibility of firearms identification by traces on bullets and cartridge cases in forensic ballistics

This topic is relevant, as the identification of firearms is of great importance in the investigation and prevention of crimes. The aim of the study is to consider the problems of the suitability of the trace for identification in forensic ballistics, as well as to identify the imperfections of the trace study process. At work such scientific methods as: observation, comparison, systematization, analysis, synthesis are used. The findings of the study allow us to understand that the opinions of scientists about the process of investigating the trace on bullets and shells in forensic ballistics differ. In view of what we conclude that the feasibility of applying the quantitative method in relation to judicial ballistics is unpromising, and the possibility of full automation of the research process is not yet perfect enough today.
