Opportunities scientific and technical progress and IT technologies: reality and illusions

The article discusses some issues related to the potential of scientific and technological progress (STP) at the present stage of human development in relation to information relations. It is noted that in recent decades certain crisis phenomena have been observed in this area; accordingly, the author reveals their essence. It is indicated, in particular, that the physiological capabilities of the human brain of an individual have remained unchanged for many centuries, while the volume of information flows befalling people is increasing exponentially. Created at the turn of the XX-XXI centuries. digital information technologies, which have already become firmly established in the everyday life of society, facilitate the problem of processing these information flows (generation, storage, transmission, receipt, use of information). However, at the same time, the methods of intellectual comprehension are simplified, as a result, the creative component of such comprehension is narrowed, and in this sense, hopes for the so-called artificial intelligence seem illusory.
