Possibilities of assessing the functional results of operative therapy of rectal cancer

During the past years, there is a distinct tendency to increase a role of «sphinctersaving» procedures. One of the most difficult and important challenge is surgical treatment of malignant tumors in distal part of rectum, particularly in anal part. The impedancemetry was used for assessment obturative functions after surgical treatment. The method is based on registration the resistance between pump's electrodes using high and low frequency in three zones of rectum from ampoule to external sphincter muscle of anus. It is established that impedancemetry is objective method of assessment the obturative functions of colon. This procedure allows to get complex results of radical operations in rectum in conjunction with studying the rate, consistence, speed of feces and function of continence.
