Yudinovo upper palaeolithic site, chronology and stages of settling

The article presents results of complex investigations carried out by the Desna Palaeolithic expedition (Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, RAS) in 2004-2011 at the Yudinovo Upper Palaeolithic site. Archaeological, geostratigraphic, and pollen data, together with a series of radiocarbon dates prove existence of two cultural layers of different age, but related to a single cultural tradition. The authors discuss the necessity of revision of traditional views concerning duration of functioning sites of the final stage of the Upper Palaeolithic in the Desna basin.
