Resume: The spleen is the largest lymphoid organ in humans and mammals, making a significant contribution to the development and maintenance of the cellular and humoral immune response, innate and acquired immunity, the quantitative and qualitative composition of immunocytes in blood, lymph and other lymphoid organs. Its development in early postnatal ontogenesis is accompanied by interaction and establishment of connections between hematopoietic and stromal cell populations of numerous microanatomical zones on the territory of the organ. The lymphodestructive, lymphodegenerative and lymphoproliferative effects of stress can change these relationships and lead to a long-term impairment of the immune response.
