A. V. Meshchersky's ideas as a version of the conservative's economic program in 1860-1880's

The article elaborates social and economic ideas of A.V. Meshchersky, who was a conservative and a marshal of nobility in 1860-1880s. The activities of Mesh-chersky are considered as an example of popularization of the capitalistic modernization of the agricultural sector by a conservative. The author emphasizes discrepancy of his attitude with the traditional economic program of conservatives, which allows concluding that Russian post-reform conservatism was heterogeneous.
