"First time looked at the commoner in the soul...": the critical method of K. F. Golovin (on the example of interpretation of I. S. Turgenev's creativity)

The article reveals the facets of the research method of Konstantin Fedorovich Golovin - a significant, but now little-known literary and public figure of the late XIX - early XX centuries, the author of the literary-critical monograph “Russian novel and Russian society”, which was not republished in Russia after 1917, one of the ideologists of the Russian “black hundreds”. With regard to the work of I. S. Turgenev K. F. Golovin-critic demonstrates a traditional conservative view, organic to Russian culture, and focused on the concepts of “people” and “soul”, and also offers its classification of the writer's creativity.
