National referenda in Ukraine: main results and consequences

The article contains a scientific interpretation of outcomes and specificity determination of the main results of the referenda, which were held in Ukraine between 1991 and 2000. Three national referenda took place in Ukraine within the period: in March, 17th and December, 1st, 1991, and April, 16th, 2000. Being based on the available data and obtained by the author, key points of referenda organization and their holding are considered. The author focuses special attention on the fact that the only one question out of seven was fulfilled. It is the confirmation of Declaration of Independence Act of Ukraine (12.01.1991). The authorities ignored other results. In addition, the author gives the facts, which indicate the reasons of contemporary social, economic and political crisis in Ukraine in the context of the modern state and political identification process. It is the first time when the specificity of outer factors impact on public opinion polls (referenda), their role and significance in the following processes of country development are identified in a generalized way by the example of Ukraine.
