The selection of features for the phylogenetic reconstructions on analysis of the mastoid pneumatization in Gerbillinae (Rodentia)

The gerbilline auditory capsule is taken to discuss the problem of selection and homologation of characters, used in phylogenetic reconstructions. The selection of characters is carried out according the hypothesis of transformation of morpho-functional system, the basis of which is formed by the ideas of morphogenesis and variability in particular group. The position of the foramen, which connects the capsule with tympanic cavity, is taken as a parameter to describe the ways of mastoid pneumatization. Septae are considered homological if they separate the same cavities.
