The article carries out historical and legal analysis of cooperation between law enforcement authorities and other government agencies in the field of illicit arms trafficking control. Particular attention is paid to the description of measures taken to disarm the population after the Civil War in order to prevent the banditry. The author notes the necessity of collaboration of agencies combating illicit trafficking in firearms at the regional, federal and international levels.
