Interrelation of ethnogenesis and cultural genesis in Gumilev's concept

This article discusses the features of interrelation of ethnic and cultural phenomena, ethnogenesis and cultural genesis in the concept of Lev N. Gumilev. We substantiate the idea that ethnogenesis is a kind of energy source of cultural genesis is the energy source of cultural genesis. As a structuring principle of ethnosphere, it determines the cultural diversity of mankind. Ethnic culture is created in the process of ethnogenesis. Thus, energizing cultural genesis, ethnogenesis determines the cultural specificity of ethnoses at each phase of its development. We have analyzed the interrelations and correlation of Gumilev's views with alternative ideas in science. It is concluded that the concept put forward by him, on the one hand, opposes the view points of modern ethnological knowledge, and, on the other hand, in many ways supplements them, enriching the ethnos theory with new ideas.
