The relationship of theory and practice (an example of the methodology of economic-geographical research)

This article is based on the report made by the author at the joint meeting of the Presidium of the Komi Science Centre, Ural Branch, RAS, and the Scientific Council of the Institute of Social, Economic and Energy Problems of the North, Komi Sсience Centre, Ural Branch, RAS on July 19, 2010. It is shown how the theoretical knowledge is translated into practical area directly through their use in solving economic problems and indirectly through targeted applied research and development. The transitions from the theory of territorial and economic systems to the practice of regional socio-economic development planning are proposed.
