Young adult as a direction of fiction for high school students

The article describes a theoretical and empirical study aimed at defining the concept of "young adult literature". The analysis of approaches to understanding this phenomenon by scientists, writers and publishers is given. A generalized working definition of the concept of "young adult literature" is given on this basis. The results of a survey of high school students about their attitude to young adult literature are also given, the main characteristics of literature that meets the needs of high school students are highlighted, the top 8 books of young adult literature, their correspondence to those books that are published in this segment in Russia and are completed in libraries (for example, the RGDB).
