Lower-extremity arterial disease (LEAD) are extremely widespread in patients with diabetes mellitus. The duration of diabetes mellitus and the blood glucose concentration correlate with the severity of LEAD, critical limb ischemia, the number of amputations and deaths. Also, hyperglycemia leads to an increase in the frequency of thrombotic complications. On time diagnosis and appropriate treatment of LEAD in patients with diabetes mellitus can significantly improve the quality and life expectancy.
