Legislative activity of the duma factions on the agrarian question in the context of confrontation between the authority and society in 1906-1907

The article discusses the activities of factions in the State Duma in the solution to the agrarian problem during the period of the First Russian Revolution (1905-1907). The author shows that the agrarian question at the beginning of the 20th century was the pivot around which not only social but also national contradictions were accumulated. Therefore, an agrarian reform was an important condition of the economic and political modernization of the country. All political forces of the country associated the solution of this issue with the State Duma. The author believes that the absence of a developed civil order, the authority's failure to follow the path of consistent reformism and deputies' exorbitant ambitions missed an opportunity to joint efforts for the removal of the country from a systemic crisis.
