Legislative maintenance of the institute of general-governor's authority in Russia in the first half of XIX century

The article traces the formation of a legislative basis of the institute of generals-governors in Russian empire in the first half of XIX century. The author notes the identity between the concepts «deputy» and «general-governor» and on the basis of legislative acts, the archival and published sources, memoirs of contemporaries and the research literature makes conclusions about the results of the legislative activity of the imperial authority.
