Legal basis and implementation of social services of military population in the 1917-1920s

The article deals with the analysis of the legislative acts and the archive material from the funds, concerning the issues of the social services of the military in the first years of the Soviet regime (1917 - the end of the 1920s). There are studied the facts of the legal succession of the pre-revolutionary and Soviet measures of the military’s support, the influence of the economic conditions and the political and ideological views on the formation of the system of the social services. The study allowed to reveal the regularities and peculiarities of the development of the system of the social services of the military and the basic directions of the transformation of its organizational structure and the development of the supporting measures.
