The aim of this article is to locate the western limits of extension of the Maikop culture in the North Pontic steppe at the Bronze Age. The material record illustrates clearly that during the second period of its development (the period of Kostromskaya-Inozemtsevo, the second half of the IV millennium BC) some mobile groups of population related to the Maikop culture inhabited the North Pontic steppe up to the Low Dnieper region for few centuries. The article also discusses the origin of the «black-polished beakers» in the North Pontic steppe.
