Helminth infection in wild waterfowl of the northern forest-steppe zone of the Omsk region

The article presents data on the study of the helminth fauna of wild waterfowl in the northern forest-steppe zone of the Omsk Region. Poultry farming is economically justified especially near ponds, lakes and inland waters because the cost of feeding can be minimal in the ranging period. The abundance of favorable conditions for the housing and breeding of poultry is associated with the problem of invasive diseases. The aim of the research is to study the current helminths fauna in wild waterfowl in the northern forest-steppe zone of the Omsk Region. Helminth collections from 66 samples of wild waterfowl which were caught during the 2017-2018 hunting seasons were studied. 65 samples (98.5%) were infected and 24 types of helminths were found. The most diverse fauna is that of trematodes (10 species), belonging 5 families and 6 genera, and that of cestodes (8 species), belonging to 1 family and 6 genera. Nematodes (4 species), belonging to 3 families and 4 genera, and acanthocephala (2 species), belonging to 2 families and 2 genera, turned out to be small in number...
