Foreign experience of strengthening the capital base of commercial banks

The paper considers the foreign experience of strengthening the capital of commercial banks in the context of the implementation of the Basel III capital standards and the assessment of this experience by the Basel Committee and international organizations. It is concluded that there are differences in the construction of the process of introducing new capital requirements of Basel III into the banking systems of developed and developing countries under the influence of such factors as initial opportunities, a unique profile of systemic risks and the development potential of a specific national banking system.
