Protection of population and territories against floods and flooding in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

The article deals with the problem of combating such dangerous natural phenomena like floods and flooding that regularly occur in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). In the article the analysis of observations of major floods that occurred over the last 30 years in Yakutia. Reasons and assess the damage caused by the floods. The conclusion of the need for an integrated approach in addressing the problem of reducing possible damage from floods and flooding through the introduction of innovative flood defence equipment and engineering systems of protection of the population and territories from flooding.
