Zaum language in Vladimir Sorokin's "Goluboe salo" ("blue lard") as a means of reflection of socio-cultural situation in Russia of the 1990s

Vladimir Sorokin's novel "Goluboe Salo" opens with a series of letters whose style can be considered as a specific type of zaum language. The effect of eluding sense that is constitutive for zaum is produced by transfusion of many linguistic and stylistic layers, from archaisms to neologisms. The signature of "new Russian" language that was created by Sorokin for "Goluboe salo" does not turn into self-dominant wordplay. This language most precisely suits the grotesque description of Russia's 1990s.
