The final stage of modernization library and bibliographic classification: results, prospects

The National Classification System of the Russian Federation - Library and Bibliographic Classification (LBC) is used in most libraries in Russia, covering completely the most numerous groups. The development of the LBC as a system involves a number of areas of scientific and practical activity that ensure the constant updating of schedules in order to fully use them in library and information work, publishing practice, in the educational sphere. The current stage of LBC development is focused on the modernization of the system. The scientific and methodological foundations of the LBC modernization are characterized, preliminary results of the work on updating the structure and content of the schedules, the system of its variants are summarized.
