The health care of Stavropol province during the First World War

The article deals with the activities of Stavropol zemstvo on organization of medical care of wounded and sick soldiers and civilians. One of the main tasks was the establishment of hospitals for the soldiers in the short space of time. The local residents rendered great assistance to the authorities in equipment and maintenance of hospitals. The influx of large number of sick soldiers and refugees to the Stavropol region has led to the growth of epidemic diseases in the province. In addition, the quality of medical care for the indigenous population of the region deteriorated significantly.
