Land domain owned by the Stroganoff in the Urals (years 1558 to 1917)

The study focuses on emergence and development of mines and melting workshops by the Stroganoff, the basis of this economy sector being land and its resources. The paper presents the dynamics of change of Stroganoff' estate in size that shall be the new approach in studying large land domain in the Urals in Russia. Categories of main users of land held in property in the middle of 19th century are specified. The paper mentions reasons of reduction of land in Stroganoff' ennobled ownership in the post-reform period and in the beginning of the 20th century.
