Railway tourism as one of the vectors of sustainable development of Russian regions

The article deals with the development of railway tourism in Russia. Among all types of transport, the railway is distinguished by its all-weather, relative safety and provides travelers with a variety of accommodation options from economy to luxury class. In modern Russia, railway tourism is experiencing its revival. With its rich natural, historical and cultural resources, and extensive railway network, Russia can rightfully be considered one of the destinations of railway tourism. The modern market of railway tours offers a variety of routes focused on both domestic and inbound tourism. A special direction in the development of railway tourism was the development of retro-travel on steam locomotives. The geography of Russian railway tourism covers both the European north and the north-west, the central part of the country, as well as its Asian and Far Eastern territories.
